Event Summary

 O.W.L.S. programs are designed for "boomers" or older, but anyone can attend. No registration is required unless you would like to attend the optional luncheon that follows the program for just $7.50.

Join Pat Schlarbaum, Wildlife Diversity Program Technician, Iowa Department of Natural Resources for an educational afternoon!  Peregrine Falcons are birds of prey that were wiped out by the DDT biocide of the 20^th century.  They are the literal standard bearer of the Endangered Species Act.  Learn how their demise occurred and the recovery efforts that have returned these birds to Iowa skies.  2015 is an exciting year with five new pairs established along the Mississippi River.  There are 20 pairs around the state with 16 on the greatest flyway on the planet.  Pat Schlarbaum is a Wildlife Diversity Program Technician with the Department of Natural Resources that has worked with falcons since their reintroduction in 1989.
