Louisa County Conservation is located in beautiful southeast Iowa at the confluence of the Cedar, Iowa and Mississippi Rivers. Louisa County Conservation manages 18 parks, natural areas, historic sites and water recreation accesses encompassing some 2,589 acres across the county.  We have two officially state designated water trails including the Odessa and Iowa River Water Trails.

Activities in Louisa County

Hunt over 16,000 acres of public land (including DNR & FWS areas).  Paddle on two officially designated Water Trails, the Iowa River and Odessa; camp at three different campgrounds including one on the shore of the Odessa Complex; hike on trails; excellent fishing for crappie, walleye, panfish, bass and catfish; a diversity of public educational programs; boating on the Iowa, Cedar and Mississippi River or Odessa; visit any of the four historical and cultural museums in the county including the Toolesboro Mounds National Historic Landmark or the Swinging Bridge in Columbus Junction and much more.  Did you know Louisa County could have the oldest Concrete Highway built by convicts back in 1914?  Come check it all out.
