Parks, trails, playgrounds (including a NEW playscape at Wickiup Hill), camping, hiking, geocaching, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, fishing and hunting are just a few of the reasons that the Linn County Conservation Board is involved with 7,000+ acres throughout the county.  Linn County Conservation owns and manages a tremendous diversity of public resources: 28 areas, over 100 miles of trail, over 300 campsites, a regionally significant observatory, an award-winning learning center, an arboretum, a watercraft rental facility,  a modern shooting range, and offers high-quality educational programming.

    Squaw Creek Park upper park area and Morgan Creek Park are closed for debris removal...campgrounds are open. Wickiup Hill Learning Center outdoor areas in front of the facility and nature playscape OPEN.   Back trails closed for ongoing debris removal. Linn County Conservation Strategic Plan

Natural Resource and Land Management -  Working to protect, preserve and enhance the natural resources of Linn County through conservation practices. Learn more about how the 1,000 acre pollinator initiative  is playing a critical role in restoring our habitat critical to the environment and the production of our food.

Linn County Water and Land Legacy Bond - Passed with over 74% approval from voters, bond funds are used to protect natural areas and water quality, county park improvements, and create and improve recreation trails.

Morgan Creek Park Redevelopment, Phase 1Exciting changes coming to the south side of the park along E Ave  starting in 2020.

Wings2Water - The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) is partnering with Linn and Johnson County to improve water quality.

Activities in Linn County

Visitors to Linn County parks enjoy many aspects of outdoor recreation!  From primitive camping to modern cabins; trails for people and pets (including horses); water activities ranging from canoe floats to fishing access. Facilities in Linn County

Linn County Conservation offers wonderful locations for your next family gathering, reception, wedding, graduation party, or business event. Consider renting one of our lodges or shelters. Our camping cabins, located in beautiful, natural settings are a great option for people who want some of the comforts of home. People who want to camp with a group of friends or with an organization should consider our Group Camp options.  Our family camping sites in our park campgrounds are "first-come, first-serve," but Squaw Creek Park does offer 24 reservable sites in A-Loop.  


The Linn County Conservation Board holds their regular meetings usually the 4th Monday of the month at 12 p.m. at the Wickiup Learning Center, 10260 Morris Hills Road, Toddville, Iowa 52341
