Quinzee Building - ON CALL PROGRAM

JAN 14 2013 12:00 PM

Kuehn Conservation Area , Dallas County

Event Summary

We need snow to build a quinzee which is a simple shelter made by hollowing out a big pile of snow. Basically, it’s a cross between an igloo and a snow cave. A quinzee is especially useful when the snow conditions are not ideal for building an igloo and when there is not enough deep packed snow for a snow cave. If built right, it’s warmer than a tent and a ton of FUN to build. Since we don’t know when we’ll have enough snow for quinzee building, this will be an on-call program. That means you sign up for the program, give us your email and we’ll notify you when conditions are right for the program. If you do not have an email, we will give you a call. Registration is required for this program.
