Knapp II Wildlife Area is a 67-acre public hunting and wildlife management area located northeast of Charles City on Underwood Avenue. A designated parking area provides visitors with a safe and convenient place to access the property away from traffic.

The area features restored wetland and native prairie habitats. Wetland areas provide valuable habitat for ducks, geese, and other waterfowl, while the surrounding prairie offers food, nesting areas, and protective cover for pheasants, pollinators, insects, and many additional wildlife species.

Native prairie vegetation includes showy and stiff goldenrod, gray-headed coneflowers, milkweed, grasses, and other seasonal plants. As summer transitions into fall, flowers produce seeds that provide food for birds and help establish future plant growth. Milkweed found throughout the area also supports monarch butterflies during their annual migration. Knapp II Wildlife Area is especially popular for pheasant and waterfowl hunting during designated seasons.
