Discover Petersen Prairie in Rockford

Petersen Prairie is located on Zinnia Avenue just southwest of Rockford and while it is among one of our smaller areas, it provides bountiful opportunities to view spring wildflowers. The area is divided into an east half and west half. Visitors can view Compass Plant, Lead Plant, White Prairie Clover, Coropsis, Rattlesnake Master, Pale Purple Cone Flowers and Wild Rose to name a few. The blooming of many wildflowers make Petersen Prairie a great location for pollinators to thrive.
