Buzzard Ridge Bluff Prairie Volunteer Work day

Event Summary

Fall is a good time to do habitat work on our native prairies. On Saturday November 12th at 1 pm we are looking for volunteers to help restore the Buzzard Ridge Wildlife Area Bluff Prairie. Join Naturalist Tony Vorwald with Jackson County Conservation and the Iowa Prairie Network as we work to remove unwanted woody and harmful invasive species from this small but unique remnant prairie. Buzzard Ridge Wildlife Area is located at the end on 30th Ave Baldwin IA, 52207. Volunteers will help remove unwanted species using hand tools. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to help harvest native prairie seed that will aid in the hill prairies restoration. Meet at the 30th Ave parking lot at 1 pm or meet at the Hurstville Interpretive Center at 12:30 pm to caravan to the site. This is program is free. Dress for the weather, and bring your preferred work gloves. Hand tools will be provided. Please register 48 hours in advance. To register call Jackson County Conservation at (563) 652-3783 or email tvorwald@jacksoncounty.iowa.gov.
