This camping area is for youth groups only. Youth Group Definition: "All groups reserving this campsite must be composed of persons 17 years of age and under which is sponsored by and accompanied by adult representatives of a formal organization, including but not limited to Boy and Girl Scouts of America, churches, Young Men and Women’s Christian Association. Chaperoned Organized Youth Group DOES NOT include families of a formal organization. All groups reserving this site are subject to verification from park staff upon arrival." *Section 13-I of Polk County Conservation Rules and Regulations
This grass, walk-in only campsite is nestled in among mature oak and hickory trees. This site provides a remote setting for large youth groups looking for an opportunity to camp without the impact of neighbors.
Reservations must be made 5 days in advance of the date of reservation. For example to make a Friday reservation, you must reserve the facility no later than Monday of that week.
We have a Limited Refund policy; however, if you need to cancel your reservation you have one opportunity to reschedule. Be sure to read the Facility Contract for details.
Jester Park is located at 11407 NW Jester Park Drive, Granger, Iowa.
The Youth Camping Area is located approximately 1.5 miles from the main entrance on the main park road; between Camp Area #4 and Shelter #5. Maps of the area can be found on our website at http://www.polkcountyiowa.gov/conservation/things-to-do/camping/.
Shower house and restroom is just a 10-15 minute walk away, located near the Registration Booth.
Firewood is available for purchase during posted times. Iowans are encouraged not to transport firewood (or other infested materials) across county or state lines. For more information, click on the following link: INFORMATION
This site provides:
- Fire Ring: Each site has a 32" metal fire ring with 4 - 6 picnic tables made available, with a large council fire ring dividing sites 501 & 502.
- Elecricity : No
- Water hydrants: you will pass a hydrant on your way to site 501 as you pass the entrance to Camp Area #4.
- Pit latrine is located in at entrance to site.
- Trash dumpster: we ask that you pack out whatever you pack in, however, we do provide a dumpster located on the main park road just in from the main entrance.
- Electricity: No
- ADA Accessible: No
- Pad Surfacing: level grass site

Large groups, exceeding 30 persons staying overnight, will require the reservation of a second site.
Hours of Operation & Seasons
Summer Hours: 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. (from daylight savings time in the spring until standard time in the fall).
Winter Hours: Sunrise to Sunset (from standard time in the fall until daylight savings time in the spring).
Main gate closes at 10:30 p.m. Gates are not locked.
Upon entering park after hours, camper may be stopped by ranger requesting their campsite number and name of the party that registered the site.
- Our gravel roads in camp areas are closed to vehicle traffic December 1 through March 31.
- Water and modern restroom / shower facilities are closed, approximately mid October to mid April.
