Backpacking 101

Event Summary

Have you ever wanted to go backpacking but not sure where to start? Come and learn the basics of backpacking on Sunday, July 5 at Prairie Creek Recreation Area, Maquoketa.  

Gear, equipment, clothing, food, and places to go will be covered in a presentation from 1:30-2:00 PM at the Prairie Creek Pavilion. Participants can then try on backpacks and join in on a hike at the park starting at 2:00 PM. Experience carrying all your gear as we hike the trails at the park.  

Event is free and open to adults and youth ages 12 & up. Registration is required by July 3.
