Naturalist Intern Summer 2024

Description
Assist professional Naturalists with planning and program development, outdoor recreation, summer camps, and natural interpretation. This position is located at the Benton County Nature Center and will run from April through September with flexible start and end times.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Animal care and nature center cleaning
  • Contributing to written publications,
  • General area maintenance consisting of mowing, trimming, painting, light construction
  • Litter control, restroom and facility cleaning, trail maintenance
  • Provide public relations throughout the summer
  • Program development and implementation, and
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Working some weekends, evenings, and holidays may be required.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to operate mowers, small hand tools and chain saws

 

Preferred Skills:

Preference will be given to applicants working towards a degree in the Natural Resources or related field.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

This position will sometimes require working overtime, including non-traditional hours, weekends and holidays.
