iNaturalist, do you? Join the City Nature Challenge!
JOHNSON COUNTY EDUCATION PROGRAMS, Johnson County
Friday, April 26, 2024
Want to join the City Nature Challenge
but not sure about how to get started? This presentation will cover the history
and basics of this international community science program and provide a tutorial
on how to use iNaturalist. We will also get outside for a short hike to find
and log organisms as part of the City Nature Challenge. After this training, participants
should feel more confident to use iNaturalist on their own and will feel ready
to participate in the weekend-long City Nature Challenge.
The City Nature
Challenge is a global community science project that includes 700+ cities
around the world. Communities are challenged to compete to find, photograph,
and document as many organisms as possible during a single weekend. The 2024
City Nature Challenge dates are April 26-29.
This event is part of a Johnson County
community-wide effort, including multiple community events made possible
through a collaboration between Johnson County Conservation, the University of
Iowa, and Green Iowa AmeriCorps. Community members are also able to participate
on their own in their yards, neighborhoods, and in local parks.
