Shell Rock Shelter

One of the first areas ever acquired by the Butler County Conservation Board is the Shell Rock Recreation Area, which is located on the west edge of Shell Rock. Approximately 130 acres in size, this area features both a recreational area for the enjoyment of humans and a wildlife area as a safe place for wildlife.

Shell Rock Recreation Area offers lake and river fishing and a replanted prairie. There are 27 electrical hookup posts that can accommodate multiple camping units each along with several tent camping areas. Camping rate is $20 per night beginning in January 2024

You will also find boat and canoe access, picnic shelters, a dump station, and a playground.

 



Location

The Shell Rock Recreation Area is accessed by turning off of State Highway 3 onto 220th Street, then immediately left on Willow Avenue. Willow Avenue will turn into West Main Street and the park will be on the north side of the road.

Operating Hours & Seasons

Shell Rock Park is open 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.
Camping, electrical service shower and flush toilet facilities are available seasonally.
