Oakland Mills Park, Water Works Area


Water Works Campground

Located in Oakland Mills Park, the Water Works Area is situated along the north shore of the Skunk River, west of Franklin Avenue. Water Works is a quaint 16 acre multi-use area. 20 semi-modern camp sites, along with five primitive sites makes this park a camper's paradise. A rest room, picnic shelter, and water are just some of the amenities found here. 

The Water Works Area is home to the Ross Observation Tower.

An in-park camp ground host is available to assist campers throughout the camping season.

This area is located at the junction of Franklin Avenue and Oakland Mills Road.

Features

Features found in the Water Works Area include a restroom, a playground, a boat ramp and fishing access to the Skunk River.

On March 15, 2003, the Ross Observation Tower was opened to the public. The tower was dedicated in the memory of Terry Ross and Michael Klopfenstein. The all-steel tower rises up about 30 feet from the ground with the observation floor 22 feet up. Visitors get a bird's-eye view of a 87 acre wetland. Viewing binoculars and seating are also found on the observation deck.

Firewood is available from the camp ground host.



Operating Hours & Seasons

This area provides year-round access to the Skunk River, with the campground open from mid-April to mid-October.
