May Hitch Hike

Hitchcock Nature Center, Pottawattamie County

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Join us for the first hike of our 2016 Hitch Hike series as we hike along a Loess Hills ridge top through scenic prairie to reach our destination - the McIntosh Pioneer Cemetery, founded in 1874. This trail is only accessible with a PCCB staff member and is not considered open to the public. See the spring wildflowers of the prairie including blue-eyed grass, puccoons and locoweed.

We invite the public to attend all of the hikes in our Hitch Hike series. Join us on the third Tuesday of the month, May through September for a chance to explore Hitchcock Nature Center. The series will start with a more moderate trail, and we will work our way towards a healthy, invigorating 2.5 mile hike to the most western edge of the preserve at the series' end.

We recommend bringing a water bottle, bug spray, & sunblock & dress for the weather & terrain.  There is no cost for this event, free will donations will be accepted. Weather permitting.
