Once an active quarry, the Turkey Ridge Wildlife Area is 97 acres of one of our most diverse wildlifea areas.   Located along the West Fork of the Cedar River, this easily accessible park provides upland forest habitat species such as oaks, hickories, and maples along with a quality upland prairie providing great habitat for a variety of game and nongame species!  Within the park is an old quarry converted to a small lake which provides excellent fishing for bluegills and largemouth bass.  The park entrance (off of Winslow Road) is a hard surface road which leads north into the park.   Be prepared to walk though from the parking area to reach public ground.

The West Fork of the Cedar provides the northern boundary, providing opportunities for canoeing/kayaking as well as fishing.   Hunters in the area will find deer, turkey, and upland game birds in abundance.  The park provides some very impressive scenery for hikers and the terrain provides for an invigorating hiking experience.  Forest and prairie restoration projects continue as the conservation board restores this scarred landscape into a premier wildlife area.

Park boundaries are not always clearly marked so please take note of where you are and respect the rights of landowners.

Location

The park entrance is located at the intersection of Union Road and Winslow Road northwest of Cedar Falls.
