Carney Marsh

Yellow-headed Blackbird

This 40-acre wildlife area offers prime wildlife habitat in one of the most rapidly developing areas of Polk County. Birding is a popular activity among marsh visitors. Seasonal birds frequent the marsh, including herons, yellow-headed and red-winged blackbirds, yellow-throated warblers, and various waterfowl.

In future years, a recreational trail connecting the Neal Smith Trail and the Gay Lea Wilson Trail will be developed through the area.
