French Preserve

Discover French Preserve in Bedford

French Preserve is a peaceful 80-acre timber tract that is located one mile north on Virginia Avenue off highway 2. Owned by the DNR and managed by the Taylor County Conservation Board, the preserve is dedicated to protecting and maintaining native Iowa wildlife and natural habitats.

This area serves as a quite refuge for a variety of plant and animal species, offering visitors an opportunity to experience Iowa's natural landscape in its undisturbed state. To help preserve this environment, hunting and motorized vehicles are prohibited within the preserve. Visitors are welcomed to enjoy low-impact recreational activities such as hiking and horseback riding on the established trail system that winds throughout the property.
